Humorous mess up

We are now up to date on the house pictures. These were taken yesterday December 5. Chris and I decided to go over and look at the progress of the house and give the builders the installation paper work for our pellet stove. When we got there we saw an aweful sight...the propane tank sitting right outside the sliding glass door!!! Who in their right mind would want the propane tank immediately outside the dining room. What a beautiful sight not to mention the wonderful aroma that would waft in through the door.....oh yes the nauseating smell of propane all day long!! Before the building of the house took place we had specifically said where we wanted the propane tank to go, as close to the property line as possible (a way from the house). This is quit the opposite!!

When we saw this, Chris asked the building supervisor if it was a joke. He had no idea what we were talking about. Not to mention we are planning on having a concrete patio poured right where the tank is sitting.

We told him it must be moved and exactly where it was to be moved to. Thankfully, the owner of the company remembers this conversation we had with him in the very beginning so the building supervisor has no room to argue with us on the matter.

Careful, don't run into the propane tank as you head into the back yard!!

Kids, why don't you go outside and play on the propane tank.
Enjoying the breeze? Yuck.

More catch up..

More progress on the house while we were gone, pictures taken November 29. The roof is fully covered in plywood. More of the outside walls are covered in plywood and the driveway area is being built up for future paving.

Playing catch up on the house

While we were on vacation to Tucson Chris' mom continued to take pictures of the progress of the house construction. These were taken November 25, showing the newly placed trusses on the house. Ply wood is now starting to be put on the outside walls.

Front of house, showing 2 spare bedrooms and front door/living room windows.
Looks like the plywood is now being laid on the roof as well.

The New House: Phase 4 Walls!!

This is our last blog entry before we leave for Tucson tonight. After this we will be blogging remotely with pictures that Chris' mom will be taking for us. We now have walls framed both interior and exterior. Our woodstove is on order and should arrive in about a month, hopefully sooner. The roof trusses (sp?) should arrive today at the job site. Thankfully there is no snow sticking to the ground yet. The roof should be up before it snows to protect the house this winter. Yay!

It has been so neat to see the house progressing. And now we can finally walk through the rooms and get a feel for the actual sizes and shapes of the rooms.

Looking at the living room and front door area before interior walls.

We have sub-flooring!!

Sorry for the dark pictures they were taken last night just after the workers finished for the night. Thursday they attached our subflooring to the foundation. We now have a crawl space for our house. We will swing past the house later today to see if there is anymore progress. It has been cold and a little snowy.

(Sunday November 16) They have attached the utilities underneath the house and we now have faucets on the outside of the house and piping for the sinks and appliances inside the house. Two lots down from us now has the walls being put up. They made so much progress in just a day and a half, I was amazed. We have picked out the colors for the outside of the house. It will be a medium gray with light gray/white trim. We will have a burgandy color door and slate/gray shingles on the roof. I think it will look so nice. We were told that we will need to have our wood stove ready for them to put in the 2nd week of December!! Yikes....we need to order it since we will be gone for the next two weeks in Tucson. Not getting back till Dec. 1st. We weren't expecting it to be so soon!

Chris walking on the subflooring

It now has ply wood on top of these beams. Sorry for the outdated pictures.

We will get new pictures before we leave on wednesday, but after that Chris' mom will be our photographer while we are gone. I will try to get a post or two in while in Tucson. No promises though!! :) Thanks for following our blog.

Trick-or-Treat!!

Friday from 3 to 5 pm is the Main Street Merchants Trick-or-Treating through Chester. I went with my friend Helen and her three children and I also took one of my "kids" to trick-or-treat down Main street. Canvas actually got a good amount of dog treats and a lot of compliments on her clown costume. She was also in the mood to make some new doggie friends at the Treats store in town. She loves her little pug friend named Feo (not pictured).

Canvas and another doxie (witch) getting to know each other.

Canvas posing at the Treats store for her Halloween picture. She was very good!!

We had a great time and the kids had fun going through the little haunted houses that the merchants made. I love living in this small town and the fun things everyone gets together to do. People here are so friendly for the most part and I love how they involve their pets in everything as well. We went to the assisted living center in town and they were telling me I had to come in with my dog for all the people living there to see. It was a great day!

The New House: Phase 3 Continued...

The concrete is now poured and set. The boards are laying near the street ready for the workers to attach them to the foundation next week. We are getting so excited to see the house starting to form. We can see the shape of the house (though at times it looks super small) and are imagining where everything is going to go. Chris is planning out the backyard and the sprinkler system, where his putting green is going to go and what trees we are going to plant. I can't wait to meet with the builder and make the final decisions on flooring colors, cabinets, counter tops, though all that is still quite a ways off still.

Center post in garage where the 2 garage doors meet.
Standing in the laundry room looking into the family room/kitchen/master bed/bathroom. Looks small huh?

Front porch area looking at the 2 extra bedrooms.

Living room and kitchen area.

The first boards are there waiting to be put up.

The night that the foundation was poured Chris went over and carved in to the center beam concrete and the conrete just below the front door "1 Cor. 3:11-15" which reads:
"For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear, for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."

We pray that when "the Day" comes for our work to be judged that we will endure the fire. We pray for God's blessings over our new house and our life that we will build on His foundation, Jesus Christ. That we will be used for His purpose and will.
